The group effort

To be honest, working with a group was a fresh change to the normality of working alone in writing. It permitted me to see others' writing perspectives, ideas, and their general ideals and morals about Rhetoric.

 Lizzy's own viewpoint was drastically longer in time frame than my manner of writing, and her way required more research and less actual heart. It taught me to blend it in with my own style to help make more credible statements.

Moving on from Lizzy, I've forgotten the names of those else we spoke with, but their standpoints were very energetic, despite the fact that I didn't hear much enthusiasm from their end. In the end though, I carried away a little from each statement they gave.


How we fit into the final description was very hectic and scattered, and if anyone outside of the group tried to interact, they'd find themselves at a loss as to what was going on, because they lacked the same viewpoint as the people within. Another lack an outsider would have is the mindset of change.


We could've done better by talking about our own personal accounts and topics versus deciding to come up with them on our own, as we could've opened up more to each other to create much better collaboration.

The narratives of the modern day

The list of things i hear in a daily basis from my friends would range from "He's moving" "he's advancing pretty far in life" all the way to "He wants to hurt himself..." "He's just left us" which may seem odd for a single day, but it happens if one goes around enough. But it never gets to someone who thinks ahead and not on what has already happened, because you cannot change what has happened, but you can change what is going to happen.


I elected not to choose one of the "It gets better" project videos, as none seemed powerful enough to move me to words for them.




Youtube and Twitter, both tell a story in different perspectives. One gives you a line of words thought out and projected, allowing you to give the reader the emotional perspective. Youtube becomes more distant, letting the speaker or video itself be the visual aid and every single portion of it. "A picture paints a thousand words" so to speak. But in the end, you can't really have similarities save for the stories themselves. The same story is placed on two sides of a double edged sword, cutting the same way at a different angle.

How these people changed my view of Rhetoric

Rhetoric

How I define Rhetoric is the process of manipulation by words to sway one person over to your side via Empathy, versus the direct confrontation that is present in Persuasion.

Rhetoric in its purest form is to convince, and branches out into ways of thinking "How would I convince myself to think this way?" and then going about that method in a projecting manner. To speak in ways of Rhetoric are just to attach to the other person without offending their way of thinking. So in a way, it's a kind form of manipulation and persuasion through empathy.

Ethically, Rhetoric can be deadly to an unsupervised and unkind person. They could manipulate whole crowds of people into wrongdoings just by their words and own demeanor. In contrast, Rhetoric can be used to achieve wonderful things and unbelievably kind works in the world, therefore granting a large freedom in how it is used. To point it out literally, the use of Rhetoric is dangerous and requires a high regard for control and the feelings of others. Oddly enough, this makes thinking rhetorically necessary for the proper use of rhetoric.

Hey! I’m currently a Running Start Student and taking some classes at Olympic College right now. Still getting things sorted out during these first few years of my now-adult life, but I’m hoping to have it situated and get into motion for my future, which I hope to enter NROTC at the University of Idaho for a career in the Navy, possibly as a Navy SEAL.

I have gone on a missionary Trip to Alaska and encountered a cult 30 minutes down the Yukon from the village of Beaver who believed that their founder and leader was “God” and that he was the be-all, end-all to their problems and questions., I can put my foot behind my head, and I lived in Hawaii for 7 years before moving to Georgia, then to Alabama, and now back to Washington, where I was born. I have also wrestled a yearling to the ground in the cold and mud back in Alabama (A yearling is a horse that is one year of age or younger). I continue to practice and hone my outdoor skills, and plan on going hunting with a Compound bow next winter for deer.

1.       I didn’t really care for if it was shown to the class because I didn’t mind any details about myself being revealed in that manner.

2.       I could understand the questions, though it was funny telling the stories behind them.

3.       It made me want to put those stories and answers within the bio beforehand.

4.       I’d add on more in depth details about my future plans and what has already happened versus a brief run-by.

We are given an arbitrary point to define ourselves in what we write, because what we write, in some way or another, will permanently remain for someone else to see. Social Strictures, in themselves, prevent us in some manners from talking freely about what we believe and who we are, where writing has no limitations because you have to choose to go out and read through, to figure out and discover for yourself, for good or bad, someone’s own self.

1.       They were more important as a whole of my thoughts than as the very core of the difference.

2.       Simply deeper thinking and reflection on the contrasting viewpoints.

3.       There are an endless stream of changes and differences between writers and their writings themselves which grow on a day-by-day basis.

4.       Being aware of the differences and change between the two will allow me to directly influence the type of writing I wish to capture my readers with.
